I started running in June 2017, so my year in review is really just 6 months worth of races. You can read my reasons for running by clicking here.
Here are my total number of races for 2017:
Virtual Races (5K): 3
What I’ve learned this year:
I learned that even if it hurts or I’m tired, I need to put one foot in front of another and keep going. I learned that running is 90% mental and 10% physical. If I tell myself I can’t do it, I won’t be able to. If I push my limits, I learn that I could do more than what I thought I could.
I learned that online I can find support in other runners who know what I’m going through. Join #BibChat Tuesdays on Twitter at 6pm PST. There are weekly prizes and online discussions on an assortment of running related topics.
I’m not part of a local running group, but I run with my husband. He makes it look so easy and at times I need to remind him that it’s harder for me. I learned to not compare my times/ pace with other people. I’m competing against myself, not others.
I’m looking forward to 2018. I have some new races that I want to try. I look forward to a healthy and happy new year with lots of bibs and medals, of course.
